Mathematics, Statistics, and Science studies:
On Mathematics, Statistics or Science Studies, you must contact the desired supervisor yourself. However, your supervisor must be approved by the head of degree programme.
The role of main supervisor can be held by permanent academic staff (Associate Professor, Professor, Senior Researcher) as well as Tenure Track Assistant Professors and Assistant Professors who have passed the Assistant Professor's Pedagogical Course.
Mathematics-economics:
On the Mathematics-Economics programme, you can choose a supervisor from the Department of Mathematics (in special cases also from other departments at the Faculty of Natural Sciences) or from the Department of Economics.
The role of main supervisor can be held by permanent academic staff (Associate Professor, Professor, Senior Researcher) as well as Tenure Track Assistant Professors and Assistant Professors who have passed the Assistant Professor's Pedagogical Course.
If you want a supervisor from the Department of Mathematics, you must contact the supervisor yourself. You must also remember to fill out a master's thesis contract from NAT.
If you want a supervisor from the Department of Economics, you must be aware of the following:
Data Science:
When searching for a supervisor, you can choose a subject-relevant lecturer at one of the four departments: Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or Electrical and Computer Engineering. Possibly in collaboration with an external supervisor. The following link provides an overview of supervisors and their field of interest: Supervisor catalog
As a student on the Data science programme at the Faculty of Natural Sciences (NAT), it is our rules at NAT that you must follow.
The course description for the specialization in Data science can be seen in the course catalogue.
Please note that regardless of your supervisor's department, you must fill out a master's thesis contract from NAT.
Do you need help choosing a supervisor?
If you need help finding a supervisor, you can contact the head of the degree programme:

Master's thesis contract:
REMEMBER that you must have filled out a master's thesis contract at NAT – regardless of which department your supervisor is from! The thesis contract must be approved by your supervisor and the head of degree programme.
