Bf.13: Classical Electrodynamics (Autumn)
Contents This course is a continuation of the introductory course in electrodynamics (Physics 211 and 212). The topics include: Laplace's equation: Boundary value problem, Green's functions, expansion in different coordinate systems. Multipoles. Magnetostatics. Symmetry properties of fields. Dispersion and dissipation, Kramers-Kronig relations. Wave guides and cavities. Radiation from a relativistic charge: Liènard-Wiechert potentials, frequency and angular distribution of emitted energy, synchrotron radiation.
