Bf.10 Fluid Mechanics (1p)

Bf.10 Fluid Mechanics (1p)

Content
A one semester course dealing with basic principles and phenomenae in Fluid Mechanics. This topic was during a period an almost closed chapter undergoing no development. But with possibility to solve hydrodynamical problems on large computer, the subject was revived and new methods have been developed and exciting results obtained in many areas.

The topics that are treated are: The continuum description in Fluid Mechanics. Discussion of the fundamental equations. Sound waves and gravity waves. Hydrodynamical stability and convection. Shock waves. Hydrydynamical turbulence. Magnetohydrodynamics and dissipative processes. Magnetic equilibrium configurations and their stability. Alfvèn waves Dynamoes in stars.
During the whole course the material will be illustrated by examples from the daily life and from astrophysics.
