Bf.45 Galactic Dynamics

Bf.45 Galactic Dynamics

Contents

The course deals with gravitational potential theory, orbits of starts, equilibrium and stability of collisionles systems (galaxies and star clusters), collisions of stellar systems, and dynamic evidence of dark matter. The main aim is to provide a background in stellar dynamics at a level required to understand the current research in the field of galactic structure.
No background in astronomy is assumed, but a knowledge of basic Newtonian dynamics is assumed.
