Photons, Molecules and Ecology: The Ecophysiology of Photosynthesis by Fres

Photons, Molecules and Ecology: The Ecophysiology of Photosynthesis by Freshwater and Marine Algae

 Ph.D. course, Summer 2004, 1 credit, 5 ECTS

Aims
The course will aim to integrate biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology and ecology of photosynthesis in the context of physiological ecology of freshwater and marine algae. Particular emphasis wil be places on the influence of light and inorganic carbon on the ecophysiology of algae mainly using examples from microalgae but including macroalgae when approciate.

Contents
The various themes will be treated in lectures and plenary discussions based on the reading list for the course. The reading list will cover various aspects of ecophysiology that are relevant for marine and freshwater algae

Teaching curriculum
The course will be a resident block course of one week (summer 2004).

Organizers
Dr. S.C. Maberly and Dr. Tom Vindbæk Madsen, (tom.madsen@biology.au.dk )

Additional remarks
This course is primarily organized for Ph.D. students and SOAS Ph.D. students will be given first priority. Teaching will be in English.
