Special examination conditions

What are adjusted examination arrangements?

If you have a disability or other special circumstances, you may apply for adjusted examination arrangements.

Adjusted examination arrangements may include, for example, extra time during the exam or a separate room for taking the exam.

Applying for adjusted examination arrangements

You can apply for adjusted examination arrangements by submitting an application for exemption on mitstudie.au.dk.

The Board of Studies for your degree programme will assess whether you are eligible for adjusted examination arrangements.

Remember to apply well in advance of the exam.

How to apply: chronic disability

5 steps in your application

  1. Go to the application form at mitstudie.au.dk and log in
  2. Fill in your contact information
  3. Describe what special exam conditions you are applying for
  4. Explain your application
  5. Attach documentation – it must show that your disability is chronic

The Board of Studies processes your application in relation to all the exams you are missing in your programme.

If your application is approved, you do not need to apply again for upcoming exam periods.

This applies to both ordinary exams and any re-exams.

How to apply: temporary disability

5 steps in your application

The Board of Studies processes your application in relation to all exams that take place during the period in which you have your temporary disability.

You must apply to the Board of Studies again if you wish to have special exam conditions for exams that fall outside the period for which you were originally granted special conditions

If your application for special exam conditions is approved, it applies to both ordinary exams and any re-exams.

Do you have an acute disability?

Apply for special examination conditions as soon as possible if you develop an acute disability.

This could, for example, be an injury or the after-effects of surgery.

The Board of Studies may also approve special exam conditions for re-exams and for multiple exam periods in cases of acute disabilities. However, this requires that you document the period your acute disability covers.
