First-year exam

What is the first-year exam?

The first-year exam is not one exam, but consists of several exams in your bachelor's degree programme, which you must pass no later than the end of your first year of study, i.e. before 1 September.

What exams does the first-year exam consist of?

The first-year exam for Economics and Business Administration consists of the courses in your first semester:

  • Mathematics (5 ECTS)
  • Business Statistics (5 ECTS)
  • Financial Accounting (10 ECTS)
  • Organisational behaviour (10 ECTS)

Registration for your first-year exam

You will automatically be registered for the 1st exam attempt in the exams in your first-year exam.

You must register for the 2nd and 3rd exam attempts yourself.

Can I deregister from the first-year exam?

You cannot deregister from the courses (the teaching) or the first exam attempt in the courses that are included in your first-year exam.

What happens if you do not pass the first-year exam within your first year of study?

If you do not pass the first-year exam within your first year of study, you will be withdrawn from the university unless you apply for and receive a dispensation to postpone your exams.

If you are withdrawn from your programme because you did not pass the first-year exam and wish to apply for the same programme again.

If you have been withdrawn from the university and wish to apply for the same degree programme again, Aarhus University must assess whether you can document significantly improved possibilities of completing the programme.
