The course is intended to provide the students with a more profound knowledge of organic chemistry. The following topics are covered:
Organic synthesis. Synthetically important reactions will be studied, a.o. nucleophilic substitution, carbanionic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, addition to C=C bonds, addition to carbon-heteroatom multiple bonds, cycloadditions, oxidations, reductions, eliminations, and rearrangements.
Bioorganic chemistry. The mechanisms of several enzyme-catalyzed reactions will be examined.
