AU Garden

STADS is up and running

STADS is once again up and running, and you can register for spring classes and exams. The registration deadline is Thursday 7 November at 23.59.

On this page, you can read more about AU's green playground, where there’s room for gardening, socialising, and encouraging biodiversity. A small project group of dedicated students and employees who are passionate about plants and biodiversity is behind the project.

About the garden

Location
The garden is located at the intersection of Nordre Ringgade and Trøjborgvej, just across from AU building 1918.

Objective
The objective of the project is to promote sustainability and contribute to making AU a greener university.
In the garden, students and staff can experiment with sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship in practice, for example by creating and tending rewilded areas and a community vegetable garden. The garden is a space for both social and environmental sustainability and learning for employees, students and guests.

Who can join in?
All students and employees with an interest in biodiversity, urban gardening and green communities are welcome to participate in the project. You don’t need to know anything about about gardens or plants: all you need is an interest in getting your hands dirty and helping to create a community centred on the garden.

Functions and features

In autumn 2019, the first bulbs were planted, and the area is now ready for use. Here are some of the things that can be found in the garden:

  • Vegetable garden and herb/medicinal plant garden
  • Different edible plants
  • Rewilded areas with native plants and flowers
  • Fire pit for social events
  • Signage with information about plants and sustainability and tours of the garden

If you have proposals or ideas for the garden, please send an email to sustainability@au.dk.

Temporary site

The space at the intersection of Nordre Ringgade and Trøjborgvej has been designated as a site for the garden until 2025, after which the possibility of continuing will be investigated.

The project group

A small project group of students and employees with an interest in plants and biodiversity has already been formed. The group is committed to the idea of working together to promote biodiversity and sustainable gardening practices in an inclusive, cross-disciplinary way.
