The course offers an introduction to basic routines of working with data for research purposes. This includes different types of data (e.g. text-based data, links, online archives, or multi-modal data collections. We will also talk about data ethics, law and data management as well as research project development with digital methods.
The course does not require previous knowledge of digital methods or any coding experience. We will work entirely with free, open-source software and resources and will make time to discuss participants' own ideas or research challenges. The course has a morning and afternoon session of three hours each with inputs from the instructor and exercises that participants can do on their own computers. Access to a Windows or Mac computer is the only requirement for participating in the course. The course is taught in English but participants can engage in Danish.
