Aim

The aim of the course is to give the students an insight into modern cell biological issues and techniques, and to give the students an understanding of the relationship between molecular structures and cell biological functions.

Contents

The course deals with cell biological techniques; different cell types; the functions of intracellular organelles; vesicle transport; the cytoskeleton; mechanisms of cell division; extra cellular matrix and cell adhesion; cell signalling; cellular mechanisms of differentiation and organ development; cancer. Emphasis is being laid on covering the cell biology of plants as well as of animals.
