Population Biology

Contents

The goal of the course is to give an integrated overview of modern topics in population ecology, population genetics and evolutionary biology. We emphasize that a positive but critical attitude towards theory is essential for interpreting field data and for designing experiments.

Headlines: Community ecology and metapopulations, interactions between populations of hosts and parasites/diseases, habitat selection and patch heterogeneity, life history strategies and tactics, population structure, one, two and multilocus selection models, quantitative genetics and phenotypic evolution, coevolution and evolutionary conservation biology.
