Colloquium on Marine Biodiversity

Colloquium on Marine Biodiversity

There is currently focus on "protecting biodiversity" in connection with the management of nature and natural resources. In recent years, this has resulted in considerable research activity with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the importance of biodiversity for ecological processes and how biodiversity best can be protected. At the first meeting of this course, participants will be able to buy a collection of articles and book chapters (about 500 pages) that will form the reading list for the course. The reading list will cover different aspects of biodiversity that are relevant for the Danish marine waters. At the same time, course participants will be given a topic that they are expected to prepare a written and verbal presentation on. The actual course will only meet in connection with a 2 1/2 day meeting to be held at the field station in Rønbjerg. At the meeting, the participants will present and discuss their presentations. External guests will be invited to the meeting in order to ensure that the discussion takes on aspects that are relevant to actual Danish problems.
