Zoophysiology

Zoophysiology

Contents

The goal of the course is to provide experimental introduction into mechanisms of physiological adaptation at organic, cellular and molecular levels. The course is biased towards comparative and ecophysiological physiology and consists of three (interrelated) sections:

  • Regulation of solute concentrations; including diffusion and sctive transport, osmoregulation, intracellular isosmotic regulation and excretion,
  • Information processing in the nervous system, including mechanisms of action potentials, synapses and sensory perception, and
  • Contractile function, including regulation of contractility in different muscle types implicated in locomotion and gas-, nutrient- and waste transport.
