Aim
To enable the students to use local and central computer systems to solve biotechnologic problems.
Contents
An introduction to Macintosh, PC, mainframes, network and operative systems; an introduction to Mac-, PC- and mainframe-based biotechnological software, including BIOBASE
and GCG-programmes; an introduction to information search on the Internet and on local servers; PC-based software for word-processing, spreadsheet, graphics and presentation; an
introduction to scripting.
Course type and time frame: 1 x 2 hours lectures and 1 x 4 hours lab course per week for 13 weeks. During the course the participants will be required to hand in a number of small
assignments.
Mandatory programme: Exercises and assignments
Requirements: Biochemistry A and Molecular Biology A.

Evaluation
A final, extensive assignment to be evaluated by an internal examiner.
