Protein Engineering

Protein Engineering

Aim

The course offers the student an opportunity to learn how to plan and conduct experiments through simulated protein engineering experiments aiming to solve questions in
molecular biology and protein chemistry.

Contents

A brief introduction to the course will be given in the initial two sessions, during which the course leaders will assemble groups of three-four students into 'research groups'. Each
group will be formed according to interests and diversity of course experience among members.

Each group will be assigned a particuclar problem and an initial overall approach to the development of a structural experimental plan is generated. In the following steps the groups
will formulate consequitive plans for their actual experiments which will then be processed by the course instructors, who provide 'results' which the groups then have to take into
accouont in their subsequent actions and plans for further experiments.

Form and implementation: 2 x 3 hours per week for 13 weeks. Written reports in weeks 45 and 50. Final oral report and examination in week 50.

Compulsory programme: The entire course programme.

Course requirements: 'Biokemi A' and 'Molekylær Biologi A'.

Text-books

Course handouts, manuals and handbooks available during course hours and textbooks from previous courses.

Evaluation

Evaluation (13-scale) of written and oral reports with the cooperation of an internal censor.
