Protein Crystallography

Protein Crystallography

Contents

This course will give the principles of biomolecular structure determination by use of X-ray crystallography. The main emphasis will be on basic crystallographic concepts like crystallization, crystal systems, crystal symmetry and theory of diffraction. More advanced concepts special to macromolecular crystallography will be dealt with in details. The course will moreover contain phase determination, interpretation of electron densities, formulation of intial structural models, refinement of models, and presentation of results.

Practical exercises covering essentially all aspects of a complete structure determination are an integrated part of this course.
