Written exam under supervision

Written exam under supervision

A written exam under supervision takes place at the university with exam invigilators present.

You need to use WISEflow and Device Monitor for the written exams.

You can find out more about WISEflow and Device Monitor here.

Written exams are always anonymous

All written exams under supervision are anonymous. You are therefore not allowed to write your name, your study-id or any other pieces of personal information in your assignment.

At the exam you will get assigned a random number to get identified by, a "participant index". The participant index will automatically be added to your assignment.

1. Before your exam

Information in WISEflow

A week before the day of the exam, you will receive an e-mail in your AU-inbox telling you, that information about your exam is ready to be viewed in WISEflow.

In WISEflow you can find information about:

  • the examination order
  • date and time
  • the examination room
  • examination questions if relevant

Studycard, phone and laptop

  • your studycard
  • your phone*
  • a laptop connected to the Wi-Fi network EduRoam

*The phone is only used for two-step authentication when logging in to WISEflow. Under the exam your phone needs to be turned off and put away in a bag.

Device Monitor

When attending written exams at Aarhus Universitet you need to have Device Monitor installed on your laptop. During the exam Device Monitor will automatically take screenshots of your screen.

Tech support

During the exam there will be IT-workers present, who can help if you run into issues with your computer.

2. During your exam

During the exam it is your own responsibility to ensure that you:

  • save your assignment correctly

  • submit your assignment before the time is up

  • have Device Monitor running throughout the whole exam

If you need any help during the exam, you are always welcome to contact the exam invigilators.

Tools

The tools you are allowed to use when working on your exam varies from module to module. To check which tools you can use, search for your module in the Course Catalogue.

Drawings and figures

If you wish to use drawings or figures in your assignment, you have a few different possibilites of doing so.

You can:

  • use the camera in your laptop

  • use a portable scanner

  • draw directly inside your computer

If you run into tech issues

It is possible to write your exam with pen and paper, if your laptop breaks down during the exam, or you run into other unforseen tech issues.

3. Submitting your exam

Submit as one pdf

You have to turn in your assignment as one single .pdf file. You hand in your exam by uploading it to WISEflow.

Deadline for submissions

You can see the exact deadline for submitting your exam in the exam plans. For your exam to be approved you have to hand in your written exam before the deadline.

Submission receipt

When you have submitted your exam, you will get a receipt from WISEflow. Make sure to check that you have received a receipt, to ensure your exam has been submitted correctly.

Submitting after the deadline

If you don't hand in your exam before the deadline, you use one of your exam attempts.

You can apply for exemption if you hand in your exam too late because of something out of your control.

Applying for exemption:

  1. Take contact to an exam invigilator, who needs to watch while you fill out the application for exemption.

  2. The application is filled out via mitstudie.au.dk.

  3. In the application you have to write that you are applying for exemption to submit your exam after the deadline. Then write a few sentences about what went wrong, resulting in you submitting the exam too late.

  4. Attach your exam to your application.

4. After your exam

When do I get my grade?

When your assessment is ready, you will be able to see it either on mitstudie.au.dk or via STADS. In the exam plans you can see the assessment deadline for your exam.

Do I get feedback on my exam?

It is not a requirement for the examinator to give feedback on your exam. But you are always welcome to contact the primary lecturer to ask if it's possible for you to receive feedback. The primary lecturer for each module can be found in the Course Catalogue.
