Aarhus University has a Total Academic Headcount (TAH) license agreement with MathWorks. This means that everyone at AU, students and staff, is allowed to download and run MATLAB.
Renew Your Matlab License
- The license expires, and is renewed, every year at November 1st. This means that you have to reactivate the program once a year.
- Renew Matlab License
Matlab can be installed in three different ways:
- A single user version, to be installed on your personal computer. Get installation guide. Everyone at AU, students and staff, is allowed to download and run this version (Most used).
- A multiuser version, to be installed on common, shared computers. Only computers with AU registration number. Multiuser means that every user on the computer has access to the program. I.e. a lab computer.
- A license server version. Dedicated to classroom computers. Only computers with AU registration number.
To get the multiuser or license server version, mail your local AU IT Support.

- Matlab will run on Windows (32/64 bit), Apple (64 bit) and Linux (64 bit). Read System Requirements
- You don't need VPN to run this Matlab version.
