In connection with your application for admission to a degree programme at Aarhus University, we must inform you of how the university processes your personal data. Aarhus University processes your data in relation to your admission, enrolment and completion of your degree. The data comes from various sources, such as your application for admission, from the processing of your application for admission in the Coordinated Enrolment System, from the Danish Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants etc.You also generate a lot of data during your studies, for example in relation to course registration, registration for exams, examination results etc.

The legal basis for the university’s processing of your personal data is the authority which Aarhus University is obligated to perform based on legislation and specific ministerial orders related to education. Aarhus University processes data within the framework of the General Data Protection Regulation and additional Danish legislation on personal data.

Aarhus University processes information about applicants and students in the category of general data (name, address, examination attempts and grades, credit transfer etc.) The university uses your civil registration number as unique identification. In connection with administration of matters related to your studies, such as an application for an exemption, the university might also need to process information in the category of sensitive data, e.g. health information etc.

Your personal data might also be used for statistics and research. Aarhus University conducts a variety of statistical surveys in the area of education in order to improve the quality and organisation of the degree programmes, among other things. As a general rule, personal data is only used in a form which cannot directly be attributed to individuals (pseudonymisation).

Aarhus University will in certain cases disclose personal data to government agencies and institutions that have a statutory right of disclosure and to data processers with which the university has an agreement. In connection with exchange and internships, data is also disclosed to the partner university, the internship host organisation, clinic, etc.
