Topics

What is a topic?

A topic is a self-chosen and independent task that differs from other courses in that there is no teaching in the course. You choose a topic that you find interesting. When you sign up for a topic, it requires that you organise the project yourself and seek guidance. Along the way, you can receive feedback and guidance on the academic content from a supervisor from the department. Your choice of supervisor must be in place before the registration period.

Registration and request for supervisor

Before you register for a topic or a project-based internship at the Student Self-Service (STADS), you must make a supervision agreement with a Faculty member from the relevant subject area of the topic.

When you register for the course via STADS, you must also make sure to send an email to the Department of Economics (studadm@econ.au.dk) in order to complete your registration.

Your email must state the following:

  • Your full name
  • Your student ID number
  • The name of the course
  • The preliminary title of your project (and, if possible, a preliminary problem statement)
  • The name of your supervisor from the faculty

You can find inspiration for your choice of supervisor in the list of thesis supervisors and suggested topics (2022).
