Other special circumstances

STADS is up and running

STADS is once again up and running, and you can register for spring classes and exams. The registration deadline is Thursday 7 November at 23.59.

If you have fallen behind schedule with your studies due to other special circumstances, you have the option of applying for supplementary monthly SU payments.

The option of granting supplementary monthly SU payments due to other special circumstances exists in order to allow such payments in cases where it would be completely unreasonable not to grant a supplement, e.g. in connection with looking after a sick child with a long-term serious illness or long-term hospitalisation together with the child.

It is not possible to draw up firm guidelines on what constitutes grounds for supplementary monthly payments due to other special circumstances, but generally speaking the granting of supplementary monthly payments due to special circumstances is dependent on whether the situation that has arisen can be characterized as extraordinary

How do I apply?

If you wish to apply for supplementary monthly payments due to other special circumstances you must send the following to the SU Office at Aarhus University:

  1. You must complete an application at minSU -> ‘Søg SU -> Tillæg af klip’. When you have completed the application you must save the acknowledgement page, which must be uploaded together with the following:
  2. Your own (brief) account of the circumstances that have led to you falling behind schedule with your studies. You are also asked to state which examinations you have fallen behind with, and to state their ECTS credit value.
  3. If possible you should also submit documentation of the circumstances that have put you behind.

When can I apply?

You can apply for supplementary monthly payments when a deficit can be registered in the study administration systems. This means that the earliest you can apply for the current semester is when the examination period is over and all examinations have been registered, so we can see whether you have fallen behind in this semester. Generally speaking you can do this in February for the autumn semester and in August for the spring semester.

Processing time for your application

The usual case processing time is four to six weeks. This is subject to holiday periods and collection of further documentation.
