Backup

RULE: Backing up your data - for students

You should regularly back up your data to avoid losing it.

In some locations, AU makes a network drive available to students, and if you use it, you will be guaranteed automatic backup.

  • You may only store study-relevant material on the university's network drive, and AU reserves the right to scan the contents of students' network drives to prevent misuse.
  • The content of students’ network drives is generally considered your private property, unless you are also an AU employee.

RULE: Backing up your data - for employees

Aarhus University makes solutions available for storing data. If you use one of the solutions below, your data will automatically be backed up, and you do not need to do anything else.

  1. O drive
  2. SharePoint
  3. OneDrive

If you use other data storage solutions than those above

  • As an employee, you are responsible for ensuring backup of work-related information and data on a media that is available to the university.
  • AU reserves the right to scan the content of students’ network drives to prevent misuse.

TIP: If you have large amounts of data

If you have a special need for backup, for example for very large data volumes, AU IT can help you find a suitable solution.
