Guide to written take-home assignments

Before the exam

When will the exam be available?

When your exam is ready in WISEflow, you will receive a notification sent to your AU email, and you can log into the system to see the exam’s opening time.

When should I be able to see my exam at the latest?

Please contact Study Centre Arts if your exam is not visible in WISEflow no later than one week before the exam starts.

Tip: How to Combine Multiple PDFs into One

In WISEflow, you must submit your main document as a PDF. If your exam consists of several parts – e.g. a Take-home assignment on topic of student’s choice + a set take-home assignment – these must be combined in a PDF document. You can find (free) programs on the web that you can use for this.

During the exam

Deadline for submission

In your flow overview, you can see the deadline for your exam paper. It is not possible for you to submit your thesis after the submission deadline. Always make sure to submit your paper well in advance so that any unforeseen problems can be dealt with before the deadline.

Can I edit or delete after I have submitted?

Yes. If you have submitted but change your mind, you have the option to withdraw your submission and upload a new one. However, please note that this must be done before the submission deadline. Once the deadline has passed, it is no longer possible to withdraw your submission.

For Master's theses in particular: You may not withdraw your Master's thesis once it has been submitted.

How to submit as a group

Create the group in WISEflow

  • If the flow has been set up for group submission, you must select "Create Group" when you log in to WISEflow.
  • Enter a group name in the top field 'Group name'
  • Select the other members on the list
  • When you have selected all group members, click on "Create Group"

Read more about group formation in WISEflow.

Accept invitation in WISEflow

Your fellow students who you have added to the group must now accept the invitation.

This also takes place in WISEflow. Here, they can see the group invitation under the selected flow.

How to submit the assignment

When you submit your assignment in WISEflow, only one of the group members uploads and submits the assignment and any appendices.

What to do if I have technical problems submitting my paper?

Try a different browser first

Make sure you meet the requirements for file format and size:

  • Your exam paper must be submitted as a single PDF file.
  • Max. size is 200 MB. Please note this in particular if you insert images in your exam paper.
  • Appendices and supplementary material may be submitted in other file formats (if permitted).
  • Total max. size is 5 GB. Do not insert images, page numbers etc. into your PDF file after it has been created, as this may cause problems uploading in WISEflow.

If this does not solve your problems, send your response as soon as possible to:
studiecenter.arts@au.dk

If you have sent your answer to the email studiecenter.arts@au.dk, you must also apply for dispensation to have your paper sent for assessment if you send it after the deadline for submission. You can apply for an exemption using the form "Exemption" on mystudies.au under "Applications for board of studies".

After the exam

How can I see if my assignment has been submitted correctly?

When you have submitted your exam paper in WISEflow, you will see a check mark and the text "Submitted" will appear. In addition, you can press "Send receipt" and receive a receipt in your AU email.

It is important that you check your receipt. (Check the spam filter if you don't see it.)

Will I be able to see my exam paper after I have submitted?

Yes. When you have submitted your exam paper, you will be able to see what you have uploaded and submitted under "1. Exam paper".

If you have a oral exam after submission

You can see the date, time and location of the oral part of your exam in WISEflow.

Where can I see my examination result?

You can view your exam results in the Student Self-Service (STADS) system, which you can access via mystudies.au.

Where can I find the assessment deadlines?

For exams, it can take up to four weeks from the exam date until you receive your assessment. The assessment deadline will be stated in your exam schedule.
